Prestige Community Credit Union CEO Retires After 19 Years of Distinguished Service; Successor Announced
DALLAS, Texas, Sept 8, 2025 — Prestige Community Credit Union today announces the retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer Sammy Shanafelt, effective October 10, 2025, after 19 years of dedicated leadership. Under Shanafelt’s stewardship, the credit union has seen transformative growth, innovation, and unwavering commitment to its members and community.
Since joining Prestige Community Credit Union in 2006, Shanafelt has led the organization through significant milestones, including growing the credit union from under $40 million in assets to over $120 million today, enhancing the products and services available to members and growing loans in excess of $100 million, helping members Live Successfully. His leadership has left a lasting legacy of financial strength and member-first service. Shanafelt has served the credit union industry for almost 40 years.
“It has been my honor to serve Prestige Community Credit Union and our wonderful members,” said Shanafelt. “Together, with our exceptional team, we’ve built a credit union that stays true to its values while embracing innovation. I leave very confident in a bright future for Prestige Credit Union and know the existing staff will continue to carry our mission forward.”
The Board of Directors is also pleased to announce that Ron Knight, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Operations, has been selected as the next President and CEO, effective September 8, 2025. With over 23 years in the industry, 17 years at Prestige Community Credit Union and a proven record of leadership, innovation, and commitment to members, Ron brings continuity and vision to the role.
